Newborn Baby

Last Sunday we all gathered at Russ and Natalie's for their pond visit.

After the previous few days of heavy rain we were all wondering what the weather would be like but it turned out to be a glorious afternoon.

Last year, when we visited, Russ had only recently completed his pond but this year he was able to share his completed project with us all. The pond was now further enhanced by a lovely wooden pergola, set off with beautiful flowering hanging baskets. As usual, the men stood admiring Russ's pond set up and latest koi whilst the ladies sat around sunbathing and chatting on the patio.

Russ was kept busy cooking at the bbq and many thanks to Natalie for co hosting a lovely afternoon.

Club members met up at Keiith and Val's last night, Tuesday 6th May, for the Growing on Competition.

Last year, Keith had visited Chris at koimasters and whilst he was there Chris had kindly donated a bowl of koi fry for the Club. Over the year Keith has nurtured these babies with the intention of making them available to club members wishing to take part in a free Grow and Show Competition, starting this Spring.

So last night, those Club members wishing to take part met up for the selection draw. Prior to us meeting, Richard had taken photos of the five month old koi and allocated a letter to each one. The Club members taking part in the competition then selected a letter from a draw and was given their fish. We look forward to seeing the progress of these little ones over the coming season and it will be interesting to see who ends up with the nicest fish or perhaps the next Grand Champion!

Another very enjoyable evening and many thanks to Val for providing refreshments.

Sunday, 4th May saw the first pond visit of the season. Charlie and Helen had managed to secure another beautiful sunny day.

On arrival we were warmly greeted by Charlie, who was slaving over the bbq. With the air filled with the lovely smell of cooking bacon and sausages we all made our way over to their pond. It was great to see how the fish had developed over the year.

A very enjoyable day and it was great to see so many club members.
